 Die volgende skuif is julle s'n...

Ons Laerskool het Vrydag, 22 Julie, uitgehaal en gewys. Hulle gees en entoesiasme vir die Interskole skaak kon nie weggesteek word nie. Hulle het Gimnasium ingelei tot die  Girls' High manier van dinge doen toe hulle hul met selfs koninginne verwelkom het. Dit is die eerste keer in 'n hele aantal jare wat Girls' High weer die laerskool interskole skaak aangebied het en ons het dit met styl gedoen.



Dit was grotendeels vir ons spelers 'n kans om te groei en ontwikkel in hul skaak vernuf. Die A-span het gelykop gespeel met drie wenne elk, maar ons B-span het ongelukkig verloor. Ag, natuurlik as jy nog klein is en vir jou opponent  oor 'n swart-en-wit bord moet loer, voel jy geïntimideerd en bang dat jy sal verloor. As dit wel gebeur is jou hartjie, maar so bietjie seer. Gelukkig is troos naby in die drukkies van 'n maatjie of Mevrou Van Zyl wat haar oor al haar kinders ontferm.

Wen of verloor, sê Mevrou Annalize Strangfeld is sy baie trots op haar spelertjies. Hoewel sommige hulle wedstrydjies verloor het, het hulle hul opponente deurgaans deur die wedstryde aan die dink gehou. Sy voel haar spelers het baie ontwikkel en is goed oppad om iewers in die toekoms 'n uithaler spannetjie te word.

But… they could have suspected something special was heading their way when the GHS dancers walked on the Astro to open the days events. Boy! Did they heat up the floor being the symbol of teamwork and synchronization.  Our Grade 8s, reciprocated and made us so proud today! They showed strength and perseverance.   C for Concentration, Courage & Commitment! Paarl, 28 July 2022 By Jacqueline Swart   The u/18C girls hockey match caused many stomachs to turn on the pavilion. Students from both schools came to support their friends with flags, posters, and cheer.  Both teams were strong and challenged each other. Paarl Gim scored the first goal, and had the ball for the most of the first half, but Paarl Girls’ High came back strong in the second half. When the score read 3-1 with only a few minutes left Girls’ High was confident that we would win, but Paarl Gim had strong players who persevered and they scored a second goal.  One minute left. 3-2. Paarl Gim gets an attacking short corner. Everyone is quiet… the audience watch quietly in anticipation… It is the dying moments of the match. Gimnasium pushed the ball out to the castle. Om dankbaar te wees: Die Personeel vang gees... Die tweede dag van die kwartaal en die omsend gaan uit: Dit is "Sop en Sopie"-aand vanaand. Twee jaar, amper drie jaar gelede sou dit een van daardie gebeurtenisse van die sloertoer na interskole gewees het. Ja, deel van die interskole malligheid gewees het, maar vanjaar is die tema herontmoeting, saamwees en dankbaarheid. Mev. Van Zyl het die geleentheid wat so keurig deur Cara Smit en haar span beplan is, geopen met 'n boodskap van dankbaarheid. Ons as personeellede van Hoër Meisieskool-, Hoër Jongenskool- en Primêre Seunskool Paarl het inderdaad baie om voor dankbaar te wees. Ons kan dankbaar wees oor hierdie geleentheid waar ou vriende in hierdie skole weer kan saamkuier, maar ons kan ook dankbaar wees oor die kans om weer die betekenis van interskole te ontdek. Mnr.
