Today HOCKEY was number ONE for the Grade ONES!

Today the Primary School started the interschools week strong..

The thunder of tiny ‘tekkies’ running down the hall accompanied with giggles of excitement echoed throughout the school as the grade 1s headed up to the Astro hockey fields. The excitement building for days, now, became too much for their little bodies to handle.

One little sister had been pestering her older sister in Grade 12 about what the Interschools week entailed and what she must do in this week. The older sister advised her wisely to only enjoy the experience.

Ayesha Khan, a grade 1 learner from Girls’ High, was excited to play her very first hockey match today. Her oldest sister supported her from the side of the Astro. The pride of seeing her youngest sister filled her heart with joy.

After playing 2 games and winning both, all little Ayesha could say is, ”it was good!” Even if she scraped her knee. Lithemba, another member of the winning team said that it was “Rad!”

Sure enough they were happy to win, happy to play and happy to be there.

Paarl, 27 July 2022 By Courtney Hendriks The u/14D hockey team could not, when they did their routine warm-up, have suspected that the gods would smile on them as they did. But… they could have suspected something special was heading their way when the GHS dancers walked on the Astro to open the days events. Boy! Did they heat up the floor being the symbol of teamwork and synchronization. Our Grade 8s, reciprocated and made us so proud today! They showed strength and perseverance. One could feel the passion and excitement on the field this afternoon. Those who were not playing were cheering their friends on, loud and proud they sang on the pavilions without any GK to lead them or anyone asking. C for Concentration, Courage & Commitment! Paarl, 28 July 2022 By Jacqueline Swart The u/18C girls hockey match caused many stomachs to turn on the pavilion. Students from both schools came to support their friends with flags, posters, and cheer. Both teams were strong and challenged each other. Paarl Gim scored the first goal, and had the ball for the most of the first half, but Paarl Girls’ High came back strong in the second half. When the score read 3-1 with only a few minutes left Girls’ High was confident that we would win, but Paarl Gim had strong players who persevered and they scored a second goal. One minute left. 3-2. Paarl Gim gets an attacking short corner. Everyone is quiet… the audience watch quietly in anticipation… It is the dying moments of the match. Gimnasium pushed the ball out to the castle. Om dankbaar te wees: Die Personeel vang gees... Die tweede dag van die kwartaal en die omsend gaan uit: Dit is "Sop en Sopie"-aand vanaand. Twee jaar, amper drie jaar gelede sou dit een van daardie gebeurtenisse van die sloertoer na interskole gewees het. Ja, deel van die interskole malligheid gewees het, maar vanjaar is die tema herontmoeting, saamwees en dankbaarheid. Mev. Van Zyl het die geleentheid wat so keurig deur Cara Smit en haar span beplan is, geopen met 'n boodskap van dankbaarheid. Ons as personeellede van Hoër Meisieskool-, Hoër Jongenskool- en Primêre Seunskool Paarl het inderdaad baie om voor dankbaar te wees. Ons kan dankbaar wees oor hierdie geleentheid waar ou vriende in hierdie skole weer kan saamkuier, maar ons kan ook dankbaar wees oor die kans om weer die betekenis van interskole te ontdek. Mnr.
